To help ring in the Christmas Season and to spread cheer to our neighbors surrounding our graphic design OKC studio in Bethany, we decided to have a little fun and decorate our windows!
We loved creating our Christmas card this year and wanted to take it further by decorating our windows at our web design studio. Window art is a creative and eye-catching way to make your business stand out while sharing festive cheer. Collaborating as a team of creative web designers brought even more holiday spirit to our space! We wanted to spread our Christmas joy to everyone who passes by, and now we are extending it to our online friends by sharing these stencils with you! Simply download and print to begin.
Here Is What You Will Need to Get Started:
- Heavy card stock paper
- Exacto knife
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Inkjet or laser printer (to print out stencil template)
- A WASHABLE Extra Broad Tip Window Paint Marker (such as Dr. Paint)
Window Decorating, Christmas Style With Graphic Design OKC!
Step 1: Prepare to Stencil
The first and most crucial step is to clean your glass surface with a good ammonia-based window cleaner. Gotta have those windows sparkly clean for your window design to shine!
Step 2: Get Your Templates Ready
Next, open up the pdf and print out your templates.
Use an Exacto knife (or scissors if you are more comfortable using these) and carefully cut out your templates. After cutting out the stencils, lay out your shapes into the desired pattern you want to see on the window.
Step 3: The Fun Part!
Evenly trace around the stencil with a window paint marker and get a good layer down. You may go over the shape twice for an even consistency or desired effect, but be sure to follow the instructions on the paint marker to get a good flow going, or you will have to go over the shapes several times.
TIP: Tracing some of the shapes on the left side of my hand was challenging, so try taping the stencil shapes to the window first. This way, you will not have to worry about tracing around your hand. If you are working on a sunny day, try painting when the sun is not directly shining on the window to prevent the paint from drying too fast. Trust me, this minor adjustment will save you time and effort while ensuring the paint goes on smoothly!
