People are Eating This Up and Coming Back for Seconds
If you were to ask modern-day marketers how they divvy up their time, many would say content takes a huge chunk out of their day. Content, in all forms, is increasingly important for companies. It’s how companies build an audience, gain leads that convert to sales and build brand enthusiasts. And, with Google’s algorithm constantly changing, it’s crucial to keep all content updated on a regular basis. This has many marketers scrambling. In fact, companies all over the world now have in-house or contracted content writers to help them stay on top of all their needs.
But it’s not enough to just post random things, each post needs to be specific and serve a purpose. And as times change, so does the appetite of audiences worldwide. New types of content are always in development and trends are forever changing. This means you have to work hard to keep up!
Luckily, we’ve taken time to research the latest marketing trends and we’re happy to share them with you. If you’re looking for ways to reach more of your audience or expand your brand, here are six ways to knock their socks off in 2017:
Virtual Reality
Because people love to escape their personal reality, if only for a few minutes. Transport them to another place or world and fill them up with content.
Influencer Marketing
A good example of this is using video testimonial from real people. Imagine a sports equipment company posting a video from someone that buys team equipment from them. More than likely, you’d be persuaded to also buy from that company based their real-life experience. Using real people sends the message that your company is personable, relatable and helps everyday people, just like them.
Live-Streaming Video
Bring your audience in close with live video. It’s easier than ever now that Periscope and Facebook Live exist. Try posting behind-the-scenes footage of a company event or coverage of your product in production. Content delivered in real time makes people feel like they’re part of things, even if they’re far away. This helps create an emotional connection, which is essential in making them your client.
Short-Lived Content
Since the amount of content flooding the internet is perpetually increasing, it follows that our attention spans are getting shorter. You now have smaller amounts of time to get a message across to your audience; think Snapchat.
Mobility
The amount of mobile users increases daily, which means the amount of people accessing your content on a mobile device will follow suit. So, naturally, your content needs to be optimized for mobile viewing, or you risk being left in the dust.
Purpose-Driven Content
As marketers, we’re aware that over time we’ll have to change our strategies. In the coming years, a new generation will emerge and our sails will have to adjust in order to appeal to them. Nowadays, the younger generation tends to gravitate toward content that serves a purpose. For example a social media post along this line would fare well with generation Z: “Subscribe to our newsletter and save 10% on your next order of custom invitations, printed on 100% recycled paper.” Give them a reason to try your product (a discount) that aligns with a purpose (environmentally-friendly paper). See, it’s a win-win!
