Building a Page on WordPress

Aug 6, 2020 | Learning WordPress, Support

Creating a new page on your WordPress website can seem like a huge task, but myheartcreative, an OKC web design and Dallas web design company, is here to tell you it is pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Here are the basic steps you need to follow when building a page on your WordPress website.

Add New Page

The first thing you need to do when building a new page on your website is to log in to your site. Once you log in, you will need to add a new page. There are multiple ways to add a new page, so how you choose to do so is up to you. As you know, we think the options are awesome!

Dashboard Options

The first option for adding a new page would be to hover or click on Pages in your Dashboard on the left side of your screen. If you hover over Pages, then this will appear off to the side, and you can select “Add New”.

Also, an option if you click on Pages in the Dashboard. Once you click on Pages, there will be the option to Add New underneath it in the Dashboard.

The last option when using the Dashboard is to click on Pages. Then once you do that, at the top of your screen, there will be an Add New button you can click.

Other Option

The last option you have for adding a new page is to hover over “New” in the top left of your screen. Once you hover, there will be a drop-down menu, and you can choose Page from that menu.

Page Title

Once you have added a new page, you will need to give that page a title.

The title is what you want this page to be called, so if you want this to be the “About” page, you would have About as the title.

Use Divi Builder

Now that you have given your page a title, you will want to click the Use The Divi Builder button under where you just added the title.

Using the Divi Builder ensures that your website’s pages will have consistent styling. Once you have clicked on the Use The Divi Builder button, this screen will appear.

You will then choose to Clone Existing Page. Once you select that option, you will be able to clone any of the existing pages within your website. Depending on what page you want your new page to look like, you will choose the page you want to clone, and it will copy all of the information from the page you cloned.

Now that you have cloned an existing page, you are free to edit the existing Modules and add any other Sections, Rows, or Modules you want.
