Adding Page Links In EE

Nov 17, 2020 | Support

When it comes to adding links on your EE website, there are a few different ways to do so. For internal links or a link that goes to another page within your website, you won’t need to copy a URL or anything…we will walk you through adding a link within your website. When inserting a link from somewhere that is not your own website, you will need to copy the URL and have that link open in another tab. We will also walk you through inserting outside links.

Internal Links

Internal links are easy peasy. The first step is to type and then highlight the text you want to link.

Once you have done that, you will find the “Link” (what we call the chain link) button.

Once you have clicked on the Link button, a screen will pop up, and this is where you will be able to choose the page where you want to link to the text.

After you choose which page you are going to link the text to, you will click OK. That is all that needs to be done for an internal link.

External Links

External links are a little different from internal links, but the first few steps are the same. You will still need to type and highlight the text you want to link.

this screen will pop up, and you will just leave that there for a second while you go copy the outside link you want.

So next, you will go to the other website you want to link the text. Once there, you will copy the URL.

After you have copied the URL, you will go back to your EE website and paste the URL in the box that opened before you went to the other website.

There is one final step that needs to be done before clicking OK. With external links (as well as pdfs), you will need to change the Target to New Window, and then you click OK.

PDF Documents

Remember that the pdf document will need to be uploaded to your Files before it can be linked. Like internal and external links, pdf links will need you to type and highlight the text you want to be connected and click the Link button. Once you have done that, you will need to click the Browse Files button.

Once you have done that, a screen with all of your files will pop up. From here, you will choose which pdf document you want to link.
