Styled Stationery

Jul 8, 2014 | Graphic Design

I’m proud to finally share some of the photos by Sheradee Hurst Photography of the stationery I created for the styled bridal shoot that was featured on Swooned as – Home Sweet Oklahoma.

A flat lay of styled wedding stationary. The flat lay includes a custom-designed wedding invitation, response card, and envelope. There is a piece of greenery laying amongst the stationary.

The vision for the style was developed by Krissi Farrimond and Sheradee Hurst who then simply shared their style board online through Facebook to 13 different hand picked Oklahoma wedding vendors! We shared a few ideas here and there, communicated deadlines, and even call times for the photoshoot through a private Facebook group. Although I’ve art directed many photoshoots, produced numerous wedding stationery designs, and created countless creative campaigns this type of project was a first for myheartcreative. I’m normally so hands on when forming creative concepts so this exclusively online collaboration was an adventure. The new, interesting, and yes sometimes scary part to me was that none of the vendors were able to see each others work as we formed our individual creations! Purposely when designing wedding invitations I work closely with my brides asking lots of questions about details created by other vendors they are working with. I look through pieces of the bride’s plans as they come together – through color swatches, photos, dresses, Pinterest boards and more so that the stationery design highlights the most special elements of their wedding.

The day of the shoot as all of the makers, bakers, stylists, florists, and artists arrived at the peacefully elegant McGranahan Barn I saw Krissi and Sheradee’s vision come to life! It was so wonderful to see two like minded creatives working hard to highlight the expertise of each vendor involved. I eagerly unveiled the myheartcreative wedding invitation designs, RSVP cards, seating cards, dinner menus, and drink menu. I was relieved and very pleased to see that the stationery designed for the day was on point with the rest of the rustic glam wedding elements.

Behind the scenes I worked the paper goods into various formations for Sheradee as she snapped away. Often in a photoshoot it turns out some of the very first shots are the ones chosen, but in this case the final shots of the whole stationery package were the ones selected so I was pleased Sheradee took the time to allow me to try different layouts. I love the romantic soft pink, rich typography, rustic chalkboard, classic lace, and all of the natural details not only in the designs themselves, but also in the old barn wood background.

A close-up of the Reply cards for the styled shoot. The card says, "Kindly reply by the first of April" and gives a place for guests to write their name(s), whether they accept or regret the invite, and "please initial dinner choice(s)."

The groom's cowboy boots and the bride's peep-toe pink heels are photographed in the venue space.

Each element was inspired by the overall vision, interpreted by the vendor, and produced perfectly. I’m so honored to have been apart of this project and new experience. We hope to do more professionally themed wedding projects with these amazing team members in the future.
