Our team at myheartcreative has a passion for creating, and we love to support others who share in our excitement. Bryon Perdue Jr., our current featured artist, has followed his creative interests since he was young, with his artistic desire being sparked after stumbling upon his great aunt’s painting studio as a kid. “She painted these beautiful surreal landscapes that blended human forms with nature, and I had never seen anything like it,” Bryon says. “From that moment, I knew I wanted to make art and strive to leave the same impression on people that her work did on me when I visited that day.”

Following in his great aunt’s footsteps, Bryon’s artwork takes individuals on a journey of awe and discovery, inviting them to examine their relationships with the world around them. “I hope that when viewing my work, people consider all of the many individual parts and how they contribute to smaller and larger systems within the work,” he states. “Systems are present everywhere, and we participate in many more of them than we recognize on the surface.”

Emphasizing Connections
He creates each piece through both intentional and spontaneous application of different materials, including marker, India ink, paints, polycrylic, and paper. When describing the inspiration behind his latest work, Bryon explains, “The inspiration for my work has always been pretty consistent, but with my latest work, I really wanted to emphasize connection and the many ways that takes place and looks. Everything is connected one way or another, especially when you consider the fact that all things are composed of the same basic components of matter.”

The abstract imagery of his work allows individuals to draw their own conclusions about their place within the world. “With the different ways I try to emphasize physical connections and implied connections, I hope to encourage a thoughtfulness when considering relationships between everything and ourselves,” Bryon says. “Choosing to do this through abstraction also allows this to be examined in a number of different ways.”
